A Wires World Soundtrack

Music for the Wires World

I've updated it so it no longer has that annoying auto-start. Sorry about that.

This needs a bit of explanation I believe. This soundtrack is a collection of music that I had on my Ipod as I was writing the stories for DCS.

Some of the songs that were on my Ipod stuck in my head while writing for a variety of reasons. Some of the songs were the inspiration for a story (even if it was just the title of the song). Other songs seemed to suit the personality of one of the characters and I started to associate that song with the character. Others just seemed to portray the relationships between the characters perfectly.

As a gift to DCS, and in turn other fans of the Wires comics, I decided to share the music I've come to see as the soundtrack to the world of the Wires comics.

I've tried to explain some of the choices. For the songs that remind me of a specific character or the relationships between characters, I've noted that down. If the song has another specific meaning for me, I've explained that as well. Some songs have no explanation, they are the ones that just seem to fit the Wires world.

I hope that I have been able to catch the true spirit of the Wires world and it's inhabitants; I hope that DCS will agree with my choices. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I have.

Influence and Choices

A Wires World Soundtrack
Note: Some of the tracks listed here are unavailable at the moment on playlist.com but I will hopefully find them and add them in.

A Million Dollars (Joel Plaskett) - This is supposed to be the intro song but I couldn't find it so I switched things around a bit. This song has been playing constantly for the last few weeks and seemed to always be on whenever I was writing.
Nowhere With You (Joel Plaskett) - This song wasn't supposed to be the first song, but yeah... This song is for David and Wasso. It fits thier seemingly laid back relationship that in reality is very, very intense.
Lonely Boy (Sex Pistols) - David: Whenever I hear this, I think of David, dunno.
Swing Life Away (Rise Against) - Wasso: For some reason after I started writing the stories, whenever I heard this song the first thing that popped in my head was "Wasso". I think it's very much how he would view the world.
Born To Be Your Man (Birdmonster) - Mark
You're Beautiful (James Blunt) - Linder
Strange and Beautiful (Aqualung) - Listen to it, if you don't see Wires and Wires 2 in here, you're crazy
That Look You Gave That Guy (Eels) - Featured in No Regrets know why this song is on here already but I'll leave it.
Beautiful Freak (Eels) - same reason as Strange and Beautiful
I Know We Could Be So Happy (Jeff Buckley) - Another one of those songs to listen to and you'll see why it's here
I Am (Bombadil) - This song always makes me giggle and seems a very Mark-ish song Go Places (New Pornographers) - Another one of those songs that was playing all the time as I wrote and now make me think of the four boys and their relationships whenever I hear it
You and I Are a Gang of Losers (the Dears) - 'Cause we, we got the same heart' enough said.
Baby You're My Light (Richard Hawley) - This is a Wasso song when he thinks of David (but he'd never admit it)
Paradise (Ana Laan) - This is a David song for Wasso
All These Things I've Done (the Killers) - It's a good song and was featured in another fic so I put it here
Ain't No Mountain High Enough (the Replacements) - A very Mark song
You and Me Song (The Wannabies) - A new song I found that played a lot while I was writing
Most of us Prizefighters (AC Newman) - not on the player yet, but the title inspired Prizefighters
Everything I Build (the Stills) - Wasso during Asleep
With or Without You (cover by Keane) - Another Wasso song done by one of David's favourite artists (can you tell I have a thing for Wasso???)
All You Need Is Love (the Beatles) - The title says it all
Homesick (Radical Face) - For Asleep
Kissing You (Desiree) - Listened to this while writing a couple new stories
Let It Be (the Beatles) - featured in Asleep
Old College Try (Mountain Goats) - This is the song that started off all the writing I've done for DCS. I heard it and knew what I wanted to write. I think it really suits thier relationships very well, neither relationship is something outsiders would expect to last but they will

And I just realized how depressing this list is. I'll have to put up a playlist with some of the happier, bouncy, fun music that was on my iPod while writing.
